Our Educators

Our talented Bothell Family Cooperative Preschool educators provides a warm, caring, inclusive environment for both children and their caregivers. They have also been cooperative preschool parents, which broadens their understanding of the cooperative preschool experience. 

 
 

Beth Edwards

director,2/3, 3/4 and Pre-K Educator

Beth is the 3/4 and PreK class instructor and parent educator. She also serves as the preschool's director. Beth holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Washington, as well as an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Bellevue College. Beth has been supporting and educating children and families in a cooperative preschool environment since 2001. Most recently, Beth has focused on mindfulness and meditation in working with children and families through the UW Center for Child and Family Welfare. She has also volunteered extensively at Sorenson Early Childhood Center, supporting teachers in their work with children with extra needs.

In her free time, Beth loves to read and cook, and spends time every day outdoors walking and in the garden. She values every opportunity to learn new things and to share her skills and knowledge. Beth lives with her husband, Terry, and her old cat, Mindy, in Woodinville. She has two daughters in college, Anna and Kelsey.

Her favorite thing about teaching toddlers is having the opportunity to facilitate the exploration of the world and foster independence and self-identity from the very beginning experiences. 

 

Laura Erickson

Parent & Baby and toddler Educator

Laura Erickson is the parent educator for the parent-baby class. She has been active in the cooperative preschool community for the last 9 years as a parent, and this is her first year teaching at BFCP.

Laura has a bachelor of science in psychology from the University of Washington, and a master of science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Seattle Pacific University. Laura worked as a licensed MFT for 7 years before deciding to stay home with her girls. Laura previously worked as a program director for a long-term residential treatment program for pregnant and parenting women. During that time she worked as a mental health counselor, taught parenting classes, and conducted family therapy. Laura also completed training in Infant Mental Health and Bringing Home Baby through the Gorman Institute.

Laura lives just down the road from the preschool with her husband Jeff and their 3 daughters Lucy, Penelope, and Amelia. Lucy and Penelope are both BFCP alumni and Amelia will be in pre-k this fall!

 
 
 

Nicole Godfrey

3/4 & Pre-k Outdoor play specialist


Nicole Godfrey (Outdoor Play Specialist for the 3/4 Class and PreK Class) has been a parent at BFCP for 5 years. The past 2 years she has also enjoyed being the Outdoor Play Specialist for the 3/4 Class and is excited to be working with the PreK Class as well this year. Nicole earned a BA degree in Psychology and a Teaching Certification from Seattle Pacific University. She taught 3-year-olds at a preschool on Capitol Hill and then went back to school and earned an AAAS degree in Dental Hygiene at Shoreline Community College. After 6 years as a dental hygienist, she stepped away to parent full time. Nicole fell in love with the BFCP community as a parent and when the opportunity to teach became available, she took it. All 3 of her sons (Jackson: 2nd grade, Alex: K, and Zach: K) are BFCP alumni. She lives in Bothell with her husband, Brandon, 3 boys, and dog, Kingston. Nicole enjoys reading, gardening, and being outdoors.

 

Kelly Hampton (she/her)

Early Elementary - Parent Educator


Kelly is the parent educator for the elementary-aged parenting classes. She is a passionate educator and creator of safe classroom environments that empower children to explore their curiosity and become confident learners. Kelly received her Bachelor of Arts in elementary education in 2003 and has worked in both elementary and preschool education for nearly 20 years. Most recently she was the co-founder and director of a preschool hosted in the Ronald McDonald House providing preschool services to patients at Seattle Children’s.  

From 2014-2017, she was the co-director and teacher of the toddlers and 2/3's class here at BFCP. It was during those 3 years Kelly discovered her love of gathering parents to share in the hard and the good of the parenting journey. Since that time, she’s pursued opportunities to lead and advise on parent education with The Mountaineers, Mom’s of Preschoolers (MOPS), and a local non-profit called The Light Collective.

 In 2022, she launched Kelly Hampton Coaching to support and empower moms, dads, and caregivers to become the parents they want to be by harnessing more playfulness, connection, and balance with their kids. She uses a strengths-based approach to help her clients clarify their family values and live into them through though collaborative goal setting, keen listening, and expert teaching.   

In her free time, you can find Kelly and her family exploring the outdoors rain or shine. As a strong believer in community, she loves sipping good coffee with great friends. Kelly lives in Edmonds with her 3 daughters and her wonderful husband.
